Wow from around the Net: Videogames

For so long I considered myself to be a gamer, a true gamer not one of these call of duty only gamers. As time went on I found that I had less and less time to sit with controller in hand beating bosses and completing levels. In the last couple months however I have witnessed my gaming time diminish down to a state of nonexistence.

This makes me sad because there are so many games that I still want to sit down and give a good run through. Every gamer out there can tell you he or she has a genre of game that they prefer to play above all others. As for me, my favorite genre was the Action RPG’s or platformers that existed in fantastic fantasy worlds.

Even with all my gaming time diminished I like to keep an eye on the new games that are up and coming in hopes that I will one day be able to play them once again. So the following are some trailers for the video games that I would really like a chance to play.

The Unfinished Swan

This is a new game that looks like it could be like Caroline in concept with a splash of American Magee’s Alice for game play. I will say this for sure it looks very appealing and the concept of it being inside the imagination of a child seems like it could be fun as always.

Avengers Battle For Earth

With all the movies done by marvel as of late it is no surprise to me that they are releasing a game to go along with it. With the looks of this trailer I am hoping that it is a beat-em-up and not a fighting game, there are enough Street Fighters if you want to play a fighting game.

Tokyo Jungle

Off the top of my head I can’t really think of any other games like this, well at least none that I have ever had a chance to play. An animal survival game platformer seems new and exciting and is on my list of games that I need to give a shot.

Finally the one that looks like a blast

Deadpool the Game

Deadpool is one of my favorite characters that until recently has been severely under recognized. This game looks like it will be a blast to play and I may be laughing so hard I have to pause the game to clean the pee outta my pants. Best of all is how this game was announced at the San Diago Comic Convention, check out the video it is a little long but so worth it.

There are others that look interesting but these are the ones as of recently that I want to give a go.

Wow from around the Net: Assassins Creed

Every couple of years there seems to be some sort of new method or fad that comes out of the wood work to help people get fit. Right now Hot Yoga seems to be on its way out and the new one on the way in is a dance craze called Zumba. There is one fitness fad that almost took of but was too intense for just anyone to pick up it has been dubbed the French martial art of running away and it is called Parkour.

My aim is not to be insulting to Parkour by calling it the French martial art of running away, in fact I am a little in awe of it.  I have watched Youtube videos of these urban ninjas and am very jealous of all the crazy skills that they posses. I have one friend, my favorite ginger to be specific, who has actually trained himself to perform these amazing body tricks.

Right now I am kind of pudgy and not in any kind of physical shape to achieve this martial art myself…yet. It is one of my long term fitness goals that one day I will be able to clamber up a vertical wall the way that the Parkour masters do. I am working on building my body to be able to do this and I have set out a series of things that I will accomplish first, this is why I started running to be honest because I believe you must walk before running and run before running up a wall.

As always I have found a geek that has taken something that is not geeky at all and made turned it into something that is fantastically geeky. Ever since the mass Geekization, where the G-Virus spread and infected everyone, the internet has been full of the great geeks who have taken their Geekiness to the next level. I found a Cosplayer who has mastered the martial art of Parkour and dressed as Altair from the popular video game Assassin’s creed and performed both his arts in the streets.

Check it out:

One day I want to be as Ninja as this guy (his name is Ryan) is but everyone has got to get their start somewhere. With the running off of my fitness goal check list as of November my next step is to do the Plyometrics work out from the P90X series and learn how to do yoga. My ultimate goal is to pretty much be like a ninja, speaking of ninjas I found this hilarious Ninja Name Maker Give it a try if you can.

co-op saturdays: Borderlands Part 1

Let me start today off by wishing everyone a happy St. Patties Day and I hope all of you are wearing green to avoid the pinching. Today I am wearing a flogging Molly t-shirt with a green logo so I am untouchable.
It is Saturday so it is time to bust out the game controllers sit down with some Cheetos and Ice Tea Cool and have a good old gameathon. Now Boarderlands two is coming out in September and I decided that I should finally play through the first one. I have been wanting to play through this game for quite some time. So i called my Brudar and asked him to bring over his copy. Then me and Brudar sat and started a new file me playing as the hunter Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos and he as the the solider.
Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos
We played for a couple hours not really getting past the first area. After sitting for so long our legs started to get antsy and our junk food rations began to dwindle. We decided to put our controllers down and called Mr. Devo and went to rehash our childhoods and went and ran around some playgrounds around our area. Then we parted ways he went home to get ready for St. Patties Day and we went to every bodies favorite convince store seven eleven to restock.
Upon returning home we discovered that my character had saved but Brudar's had not. After much grrring he restarted as LilthPhotobucket Pictures, Images and Photos and we restarted a file from the beginning for a second time in the day.
If there is just one thing I have to say about this game is the graphics are awesome. The cell shading gives this game such a great atmosphere I think if they had gone any other direction with this game it would be no where near as fun.
Now let's take a moment to talk about those guns... Why the hell does my shot gun have a scope better then the range of the gun. The guns and gun types of this game remind me of the old ratchet and clank games in their bright colours and incredibly strange functions. The only difference between Borderlands and Ratchet and Clank is that in Borderlands shit blows up and blood and guts erupt from skags when you blast them to smithereens. Brudar found a scattergun that's bullets do a neon blue wave pattern upon being fired and only stop once they collide with something.
Strange yet fun game and I cannot wait to play more with Brudar on next Saturday. Look for part Two next week.
